We haven't done too much these past few days, we are still recovering from our flight (I have a bit of a cold/sore throat). We have mostly been exploring the back yard here, which is shenanigans! Tons of new stuff and exciting stuff and all that stuff.
Sean is super stoked about all the bugs, which is really no surprise at all. Bugs are pretty well three times the size here. For example:
This lovely stick bug! Only the size of Sean's hand.
This cute little cricket found on the dryer outside.
Last but definitely not least, this nice golden orb spider.
I've also chosen my favourite tree. It's awesomeee!
All the entangled roots and stuff.. huge nest higher up (it looks like a nest I have no idea what it actually is) long branches that go farrr. It's plainly awesome.
There is neat wildlife around here. There are tons of cute geckos everywhere. We saw a green tree frog above our door yesterday. There are cane toads everywhere (which are terrible for the environment here). The birds are fantastic! I saw cockatoos sitting on a street light, there are lorikeets all over the place. Their squawks sound just like budgies so it is like I never left my budgies behind. There is this crazy black and blue butterfly that is sooo prettttyyy! Wild turkeys run around, they are like this area's squirrel. They dig and act ridiculous. I saw a huge flying fox swoop right above me. I could hear the whoosh of his wings. Pretty neat. We finally saw a huge tree monitor today, which I was very excited for!
You can see it in the tree there. It's huge! Sooo cooool.
In other completely unrelated news, we ate kangaroo. It was pretty weird. It is apparently an extremely healthy meat being quite lean. It didn't taste too much like anything because we had it in a strong curry. I would eat it again though for sure. The kangaroos get treated better than the cows do back home so it's a bit of a less cruel meat to eat.
The kangaroo is the dark chunks at the top there.
We haven't gone too many places, but our new year's eve was pretty cool! We watched the Cairn's fireworks at 9pm on the beach. It was a really nice night weather wise, and quite an enjoyable walk!
We went to trinity beach, which is a short drive away from April and Ricky's place. It's too bad we can't swim there, but there are too many jellies at the current time. It was nice there! As soon as we arrived at the beach we saw a rainbooowwww.
It was super pretty scenery.
We went for a walk on a trail and I climbed a BIG ROCK. I climbed to the top and I could see lots of stuff! So nice being at the beach.
Other than that, it is sooo niceeee going for a swim whenever you want at the pool here. The pool is nice and warm. April and Ricky are very good company, and I'm quite the fan of baby Juno! She is the epitome of cute baby. And she likes the cute wooden dinosaur toys I made her!
